Book Review: “The Unofficial Guide to Universal Orlando”

Accio Book!

While preparing for my trip to Universal Orlando, I was lucky enough to be given an advanced copy of The Unofficial Guide to Universal Orlando by Seth Kubersky. This is a new installment to the Unofficial Guide series and came to be my mother’s lifeline. For anyone planning their new adventure down to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, this book is a must to ensure an incredible vacation for all in your party.

Kubersky is a former Universal Orlando employee, which helps to explain how someone could have such insight into how to navigate the parks and get the most out of your day. Kubersky covers all aspects of planning a vacation from before you leave, to the accommodations, dining, shopping, and an elaborate explanation of each park. He provides wonderful tips on where to get groceries, which rides will get you soaked, and when restaurants are the busiest.

Throughout this guide, readers will find detailed profiles on both parks, restaurants, and attractions so families can properly plan their stay and figure out what sections they want to hit most. For parties traveling with children, Kubersky also provides information on how to keep them happy with their favorite characters and which rides to stay away from due to a scariness factor.

My family and I found the guide to be extremely useful when making airport pick-up arrangements, purchasing park tickets, and choosing restaurants for special dinners. “It’s a really great book with common terms, and it’s very well laid out. It’s easy to read and really on the mark. There’s a lot of great practical advice,” my mom told me when looking through the book.

Kubersky does cover the Wizarding World of Harry Potter sections extensively but only to ensure readers are fully prepared for the experience. There are even pull-out maps with tips on how to plan out your day so readers can bring Kubersky’s advice into the park without carrying around the entire book.

I highly recommend this guide for anyone traveling to Universal Orlando. Even if this is your second, third, or fourth time going to the parks, you will be delighted by the tips hidden within this book that can only come from someone who has seen it all first-hand. This is an excellent addition to the Unofficial Guide series and is an incredible investment for your next trip!
