Book Review: “A Tragic Consequence” (“Order of the MoonStone” #4)

Order here

The fourth book in the Order of the MoonStone series was released today! If you haven’t heard of the series yet, the heroine, Kayden, is a trained assassin thrown into a Cinderella scenario — only she was sent to kill the prince not to fall in love with him. Oops!

Kayden and Prince Dvarius have had to overcome their share of obstacles not only to love each other but to actually commit. Now that the wedding ceremonies and brief honeymoon in hiding are over, they are on the run from the Order again. Their journey takes them to a land of Dvarius’s enemies. A land that reveals secrets of Kayden’s past, ones she doesn’t remember. Will these new revelations help or hinder the couple?

Book 4 ends with a blow that will have readers grabbing at their chests to make sure they haven’t been shot.

Whether you are looking to invest yourself in a new series or are returning to the series for the fourth book (not including short stories), I think Morrow’s tale of a Cinderella assassin is worth a try. I mean, who doesn’t want to read a Cinderella story with a major, steampunky twist? A Tragic Consequence begins with a lot of lovey-dovey-ness, which not all readers are into. However, if you stick through all those gooey honeymooney feelings, you’ll get a bit of political intrigue mixed with possibly game-changing backstory. And then there is the ending, which had me screaming, “No! No! No!” to the incredibly gripping cliffhanger. I CANNOT wait until Book 5!

A copy of this book was provided by the author, J.C. Morrows, for review.
